Hello and welcome to November 3rd, 2024. (aka update day!)

The goal of this update is to basically spice things up. I felt like the game was to repetitive and monotonous, so I wanted the primary goal of this update to focus on providing more diversity in gameplay.

Version V0.26 adds a good amount of content to spice up gameplay. This is *probably* the last content update before the full version on January 10th. I plan on putting out a few patches here and there to make things look nicer, fix bugs, and rebalance things.

IMPORTANT: At some point in your game, you're more than likely to find at least 1 bug. I can't catch everything. So, if you find ANY bugs, imbalances, or if you just have a general suggestion to make about gameplay, art, sound fx/music, please please please reach out to me on discord - @MogDog. I am always willing to listen to what the players have to say.

BIG CHANGES:

-Implemented special events and boss rounds.

-You will encounter ~11 special events throughout a full 60 level game and 3 bosses.

-Added "enchanted pegs" which are pegs that spawn during special rounds and boss rounds

-Enchanted pegs have an effect attached to them that triggers when they are popped.

-Effects of enchanted pegs vary drastically, go discover them for yourself :)


-Game now saves your high score, and displays it upon losing or winning.

-The local game save can be reset in the settings menu of the title screen


-Removed traits as a mechanic

-In place of traits, implemented perks.

-Perks work similarly to traits, except instead of being bound to an item and performing and event when the parent item activates, they instead work universally and affect the game at large.

-There are 10 common perks and 2 rare perks. (In the full version, I want around 40 perks total.)


-Added background music: 1 new title theme, 2 new main game background themes, gameover theme, game win theme, pause menu theme

-All credit goes to Vinegart. Vinegart is the new musical director of NNF who has done a wonderful job.


-Implemented a few new items: Uranium rod, "Pedro"

-Reworked some items

-Nerfed lobster claw, moved lobster claw to rare

-Moved nose to rare, same effect

-Completely reworked noodle effect, moved noodle to common

-Buffed Jake the Snake


-Implemented loot system.

-After being a boss round, you're given a loot chest to open.

-When the chest is opened, you will receive a choice between two perks. This is how perks are received


-New sound fx. In particular, changed the peg pop and nubby launch sound effect so they're a little less crunchy and abrasive.

SMALL CHANGES:

-Display item rarity in shop, 

-Added "right click to sell items" directions in shop.

-New item trigger: "Nubby hits wall"

-Fixed a bunch of commonly reported bugs, e.g. Merge bug (this one sucked), meatorb bug, nubby stuck in corner bug

-Changed the way fullscreen works.

-Game starts in fullscreen now and can be turned off in the settings menu, or by using (alt + enter)

-Discord server button on title screen

-Shifted the timeline in the main game UI

-Added Vinegart's logo to the splash screen. Thanks again, Vinegart.

Final note:

Thanks to everyone who has been playing the game and participating in the community. About two weeks ago, there was ~7 people in the discord server, and as of writing this on the morning of 11/3/24, there are 62 members! Also, for the people who have been donating money to me, I'm so grateful for your contribution. It helps out a lot because I'm a college student whose trying to balance game dev, money, and schoolwork.
